trees and shrubs from Boothbay Region Greenhouses

Edible gardening is hot – and not just with the “If you can’t eat it, I won’t grow it” crowd.    With a little care, it is easy to grow your own vegetables at home.  Try a theme garden – gourmet, unusual colors, heirlooms, miniatures – or just plant what you like to eat!  Mix edibles and ornamentals (put kale and Swiss chard in flower beds for texture and color, use parsley as a border, try a kohlrabi planter and pop strawberries in hanging baskets).   Put herbs on your windowsill for use in your favorite recipes.  Plant lowbush blueberries for an easy and unusual groundcover.  Think beyond the traditional rows of vegetables – and if you don’t like the way something looks, just eat it!
